SD Board of Massage Therapy

A NOTE ABOUT LICENSURE

Currently, most all the States in the US have requirements for licensure. SD does require licensure. Where no state law exists, such as in MN, local laws will have varying requirements for the practice of massage therapy and regulation of massage therapy establishments (business sites). SDSMT’s curriculum has been satisfactory for those graduates wishing to practice in states requiring 700 hours of training or less. The school strongly encourages students to become informed regarding the regulation of massage therapy and massage therapy establishments in the city of state where you intend to practice after graduation. If you have questions about licensure, contact the South Dakota Board of Massage Therapy at 605-773-3440 or email massagetherapy@state.sd.us.

Students are eligible to sit for the MBLEX exam after completion of a minimum of 500 hours for the State of South Dakota. SDSMT assists students through this registration and testing process. The application fee to is $265.
